Stop Performing. Start Leading.

Stop Performing. Start Leading.

Perfectionism is sneaky. It doesn’t just show up in the big decisions – it shows up in the constant second-guessing, the unread emails at midnight, and the way we say “yes” when we’re already full.

And here’s what makes it so toxic: perfectionism disguises itself as excellence. It makes you believe that if you just work harder, show up perfectly, and stay in control—then you’ll be safe. Accepted. Enough.

But here’s the truth: perfectionism is doing things for love instead of from love.

This month, I’m choosing to detox from it. Here’s how – and I’d love for you to join me.

1. Interrupt the pressure to perform.

Perfectionism thrives in silence. It wants you to hide behind the highlight reel. But vulnerability – real, honest presence – is how you take your power back.

Action: Choose one place this month to tell the truth. It could be sharing a struggle with your team, asking for help, or simply saying, “I don’t know.” Watch how safety is built through your honesty – not your polish.

2. Create standards, not scripts.

Perfectionism makes you believe there’s a “right” way to lead, speak, show up. But leadership isn’t about scripts. It’s about being rooted in your values so you can show up with clarity – even in messy moments.

Action: Define 3 values you want to lead from this summer. Then let those be your compass – not someone else’s playbook.

3. Trade control for trust.

You can’t build trust when you’re micromanaging yourself or others. Control might feel safe, but it chokes creativity, relationships, and your own intuition.

Action: Pick one place this month to loosen your grip. Delegate the decision. Leave the email unsent. Let someone else lead. And see what opens up in that space.

You don’t need to be perfect to be powerful. You don’t need to be polished to be respected. You don’t need to prove yourself to be worthy.

Let July be the month you stop performing – and start coming home to yourself.
