Choose Presence this August
Choose Presence this August
August always carries that almost-fall energy. The schedules are starting to fill. The pace starts to pick up. The urgency creeps in.
Before we rush into “go mode,” I want to offer a different invitation: Come back to presence. Not just physically, but emotionally. Mentally. Spiritually.
Presence isn’t soft. It’s not passive. Presence is power. It’s the bold decision to be fully here – to lead with intention instead of reactivity.
Here’s how I’m practicing that this month:
1. Protect your presence like it’s your most valuable asset – because it is.
When you’re scattered, people feel it. When you’re grounded, people trust it. You can’t lead clearly if you’re constantly in mental clutter.
Action: Block out one “white space” block each week in August. No meetings. No emails. Just visioning, writing, dreaming, or breathing space. You’re not too busy – you’re too valuable to run on empty.
2. Reestablish your boundaries before the season sets your pace for you.
Boundaries aren’t rigid rules – they’re systems of protection for your time, energy, and values. Fall will test them. Set them now.
Action: Write out your “non-negotiables” for the upcoming season. Then communicate them clearly – at home, at work, with yourself.
3. Anchor into how you want to feel—not just what you want to do.
When we skip this step, we end up busy but disconnected. Success without presence doesn’t feel like success – it feels like burnout.
Action: Pick one core feeling you want to embody this fall (e.g., steady, inspired, bold). Then ask: What habits help me feel that way – and what gets in the way?
Presence is your edge. It’s how you build trust, make clear decisions, and lead from grounded confidence—not constant reaction.
Let August be the month you return—not to hustle, but to yourself.
